By the time the Dynamo and Cruz Azul kicked off on Thursday night, all the work that mattered was complete.

Liga MX's Cruz Azul defeated the Dynamo, 5-3, in the ninth annual BBVA Compass Dynamo Charities Cup at BBVA Compass Stadium.
The Charities Cup has been held every year since 2009. It pits the Dynamo against a prominent international team to raise money for charity. A portion of the proceeds from the match are donated to different charitable causes.
This year, those proceeds will benefit the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund established by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Harris County Judge Ed Emmett.
