Amid Zika concerns, U.S. women blow out Costa Rica

FRISCO – The history of the U.S. women’s national team is full of amazing goals, setting the standard for the CONCACAF region and the entire world with strikes from Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain, Abby Wambach and Carli Lloyd.

Forward Alex Morgan made more history Wednesday with the fastest goal CONCACAF Olympic qualifying history.

The speedy forward gave the U.S. the lead in the 12th second to set the tone for a 5-0 rout over outclassed Costa Rica in the opener of the CONCACAF Women’s Soccer Olympic Qualifying Championship.

Half an hour after Mexico trounced Puerto Rico 6-0 in the first game of a Group A doubleheader at Toyota Stadium, forward Crystal Dunn rolled the kickoff forward to Tobin Heath, who passed it back to Dash midfielder Morgan Brian.
