Houston Dynamo defender Adolfo Machado has been named to Panama’s final 23-player roster for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, head coach Hernán Darío Gómez announced today.
Machado, 33, will represent Panama at their first-ever World Cup this summer. The Panama City native appeared in 12 matches for Los Canaleros during World Cup qualifying.
Panama as a nation failed to qualify for the World Cup in its first 10 attempts, dating back to the 1978 tournament. The team qualified for the first time last fall by finishing third in the final round of CONCACAF qualifying.
