Acting Dash coach Omar Morales aims to win Saturday

Two months ago, Omar Morales earned his first professional coaching job when the Dash hired him as an assistant coach. This week, his transition picked up heavy steam.

Morales will be the Dash's acting coach for Saturday's road game against the Washington Spirit after Randy Waldrum – the man who hired him – was fired on Monday morning.

Morales came to the Dash after three years as head coach of the NCAA Division II Eastern New Mexico University women's team. His career record was 16-36-2.

He said he is prepared for this week's challenge and potentially the long run if he is chosen as an interim coach for the rest of the season or beyond.
