The University of Louisville football team will play the home opener on Saturday at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium at noon against a familiar foe - Houston.
The two schools are playing the first of a two-year contract. U of L will play at Houston next season.
It will mark the 16th time the schools have played, dating back to 1950. Louisville has won six of the past seven meetings, including a 20-13 win in 2013 when the Cardinals played one season in the American Athletic Conference.
The two meetings prior to '13 came in 2003 and '04 when the Bobby Petrino-led Cardinals scored 60-plus points in both games to whip the Cougars two years in a row.
