Senior announces departure from men’s basketball program

Athletics announced on Tuesday that senior guard L.J. Rose has decided to leave the men’s basketball team to finish his collegiate career with a different team in the 2016-17 season.

Rose sat out most of last season due to health reasons, playing in just two games, and spent a lot of time over the past two seasons sidelined with injuries.

During his time at UH, Rose averaged 9 points per game and added 5.3 assists per game. Rose was a transfer who joined the Cougars before the 2013-14 season after transferring from Baylor University.

“I have learned a lot in the last two years under Coach Sampson,” Rose said in a news release.
