Less than two minutes into Saturday’s game against South Carolina, Houston’s head coach removed his jacket and tossed it aside.
As signature as that move has become over the past few years by UH’s head coach, that person, on Saturday, was not Kelvin Sampson. It was not even assistant coach Kellen Sampson.
Instead, it was Quannas White, who stepped in to fill the role and serve as the acting head coach for UH after both Sampsons were unable to be at Fertitta Center due to COVID-19 issues, and led his shorthanded team to a grinded out victory.
