Despite being outside of the top five, the University of Houston men’s golf team turned in their best performance of the weekend to finish in a third-place tie with the Louisiana State University Tigers on the final day of the NCAA Franklin Regional Tournament.
The victory launched the Cougars past regional play and will drive them to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon on Friday. This will be the third consecutive year the Cougars have competed in the NCAA Championships, although they failed to make it past the first round of cuts in last year’s tournament.
At the NCAA Regional Tournament, sophomore Michael Perras finished first overall after posting three consecutive under-70 scores and becoming the second player in Cougar history to do so.
