The Cougar men’s basketball team played the last game ever in Hofheinz Pavilion in a 73-51 victory against the ECU Pirates on Sunday.
Following the conclusion of this season, Hofheinz Pavilion will go through a $60-million renovation. Because of a $20-million donation from Board of Regents Chairman and alumnus Tilman Fertitta, the arena will be renamed the Fertitta Center.
In Hofheinz’s 48-year history, more than 700 men’s basketball games have been played, and the court even hosted the Houston Rockets once. Sunday’s game shut the historic facility’s door for the last time.
