Following a pair of successful seasons for the football and men’s basketball programs, College Football News projected UH to be the 6th-best school for basketball and football during the 2016-2017 seasons.
The Cougars made the list as the only non-Power 5 program among the rankings, with the list citing the high-caliber coaching of head football coach Tom Herman and men’s basketball coach Kelvin Sampson as the catalyst for the success.
The football team is coming off of a 13-1 season in Herman’s first year, in which it captured its first conference title since 2005, as well as winning the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl over Florida State University.
