Baseball opens conference season against ECU on the road

The 15th-ranked baseball team is hitting the road to open play in the American Athletic Conference against the No. 19 East Carolina University Pirates.

The game against ECU will end the Cougars’ nine-game home stand, with their only losses coming against Rice University and the top-ranked Texas A&M.

Over those nine games, the team outscored its opponents by an average of 5.2 runs per game, pushing an average of 6.4 runs across the plate over that time.

The Cougars’ pitching dominated long stretches of the home stand, with two of their aces, junior Andrew Lantrip and sophomore Seth Romero, each picking up a pair of wins over that stretch.
