Casey Grayson, Pedro Echemendia and Jose Godoy named winners of year-end team awards for the Cardinals' short-season Class-A club.
The State College Spikes announced their 2015 year-end award winners in a ceremony prior to Sunday’s regular-season home finale at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Infielder Casey Grayson was named the club’s Most Valuable Player, while right-handed reliever Pedro Echemendia earned the Spikes’ Pitcher of the Year Award and catcher Jose Godoy won the inaugural Josiah Viera Perseverance Award.
Grayson, the Cardinals’ 2014 21st-round draft choice out of the University of Houston, is leading the New York-Penn League with 76 hits and 46 walks through September 6.
