The Texas A&M Aggies lost two blue chip quarterbacks to transfers in the past month or so, and one of those QBs will be staying in-state as the newest member of the Houston Cougars.
According to multiple media reports, sophomore Kyle Allen will transfer to Houston -- a team which went 12-1 under head coach Tom Herman this season including a victory over Florida State in the Peach Bowl.
The Cougars are led by junior quarterback Gary Ward Jr, who will return to the team as a senior next season. Allen, per NCAA regulations, will have to sit out his junior year before playing for the Cougars in 2017.
An Arizona native, Allen told 247Sports recently that he had spoken with Houston, Oklahoma and a few schools from his home state after his departure from Texas A&M.
Allen requested his release from the Aggies after being benched by head coach Kevin Sumlin halfway through the 2015 season. He threw for 2,210 yards with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions in ten games.
