DETROIT — Astros righty reliever Josh Fields exited the game after he took a line drive off his right leg, in the knee area, in a tie game in the bottom of the ninth inning at Comerica Park on Thursday.
Anthony Gose ripped the ball with one out. Fields’ right leg is his pushoff leg, and he was finishing his follow-through, he was swinging the leg around as the ball caught him.
Fields started to run toward first base as the ball bounded to the right side of the infield, but quickly started hobbling as he made his way.
