There is nothing wrong with having a contingency plan or two. Plans can, after all, change, and people are often left scrambling without an adequate backup. I don't care to admit it, but I've been there numerous times. But there is value in knowing how and in what manner you can pivot even when the best-laid plans go awry. I certainly feel proud about a successful pivot, even if the original plans were still superior to what ultimately transpired. Whether I should be proud or not is a separate question.
