It is no secret that the Astros had a dreadful start to the season, bottoming out — at least thus far — with a 12-24 record. We also knew this roster had more talent than the record would indicate. But any resurgence is all for naught if the hole is too deep to climb out of and it was nearly entering that territory. After all, only three clubs, including the 2005 Astros, had ever qualified for the postseason after starting a season with a 15-25 record. The 2016 Astros, for example, had a 7-17 record in April but rebounded to win 84 games.
