On Wednesday, former Houston Astros backup catcher Dustin Garneau signed with the Detroit Tigers, creating a need for additional catching depth. The elite catchers on the market have been James McCann and JT Realmuto, and as McCann seemed the only realistic option of the two, but he signed with the New York Mets.
