CINCINNATI — MLB’s desire for its clubs to receive more medical information ahead of the draft and potentially avoid situations like Brady Aiken’s seems to have been been set back by an incident in football.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter last week published a medical record of Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, showing he underwent a finger amputation after a fireworks incident. The publication of that record caused debate about the propriety of disseminating that information, and on Tuesday, invoked a stern reaction from the head of baseball’s player’s union, Tony Clark.
“What happened a few days ago related to JPP’s medical records being made public was a travesty,” Clark said.
