BOCA RATON, Fla. — One rival general manager expects Chris Carter will be non-tendered this winter, and first base all along has appeared a position where the Astros may try something new.
Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow during the general managers’ meetings did not meet with Scott Boras, who has power-hitting first baseman Chris Davis on the market. Boras is marketing Davis as someone who can play first or other positions as well, such as left field.
No meeting yet doesn’t mean the Astros couldn’t pursue Davis at a later point, but it does highly suggest he’s not a priority for the team.
