Tony Sipp Signs with the Nats

With one of the few questions remaining for the Astros being who will be their left handed reliever, we now know what one of the answers won't be.

Tony Sipp, last year's lefty, signed with the Washington Nationals for one year, $1.25 million. Last year Sipp had a resurgent season, posting a 1.86 ERA and almost a full win above replacement in 38 innings.

This deal is almost shockingly low, and one wonders, at that price, why didn’t the Astros try to re-sign Sipp?

One, perhaps they thought his success last year was a fluke. His peripherals, especially his xFIP, were not as good as his ERA, meaning he had incredible home run luck last year.
