CINCINNATI – Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, who grew up cheering for Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell and Lance Berkman, will make his third All-Star Game appearance Tuesday.
Goldschmidt, who leads the National League with a .340 batting average and is tied for the big league lead with 70 RBIs, will start at first base and bat cleanup for the NL.
“The biggest thing is it’s just a huge honor,” Goldschmidt, 27, said. “Just to be selected an All-Star with some of the greatest players in the world and to be in the lineup it’s really exciting.
“I’m honored just to represent the D-Backs and the National League.
