The Terms
Before that, here’s a refresher course on payrolls and terms (please skip ahead if you’re a payroll expert):
PAYROLL is the annual expense that ownership gives out in salary. We’re only concerned about player salary here, specifically about the amount that counts against the LUXURY TAX, which is a tax that teams must pay if they exceed the THRESHOLD, which is right around $210 million.
