Ken Giles doesn’t know any Astros and he doesn’t know Houston. All the 25-year-old with a 100-mph fastball said he’s hoping for are nice people and passionate sports fans.
The fireballer is a straight shooter.
“Absolutely nothing,” Giles said when asked what he knows of Houston. “Never come to Houston, I’ve always flew in and flew out.”
Manager A.J. Hinch was at the podium to Giles’ right with general manager Jeff Luhnow on the pitcher’s left during Monday’s introductory press conference at Minute Maid Park. Hinch chimed in quickly, to laughter.
“He’s an honest guy, too,” the manager said.
