Springer sharp in rehab, could return today

Astros outfielder George Springer continued to work his way back from an injured right wrist on Thursday, as he went 1-for-2 with a single and a walk in designated hitting duty, as Double-A Corpus Christi topped Frisco, 3-1.

Springer could be activated from the disabled list as soon as Friday, when Houston opens a crucial three-game series against Minnesota at Minute Maid Mark. The Astros hold a two-game lead on the surging Rangers in the American League West, while the Twins are looking to gain ground in the AL Wild Card standings, where they trail Texas by 1 1/2 games for the second spot.
