The game doesn’t count but it’s a game! Major League baseball returns. Yay.
It’s Brandon Bielak on the mound for the Stros, who saw his first big-league action in 2020 and started off hot, but after several bad starts, was sent to the training facility in Corpus Christi. For the season Bielak was 3-3 with a 6.75 ERA. Bielak’s goal this Spring is to show that the early 2020 version of himself is the real Bielak, and if that is so, he could be an important contributor to the 2021 Astros.
The competition for the remaining outfield slots after Michael Brantley and Kyle Tucker is one of the important themes this Spring, and you’ll see two of those competitors in todays game, Myles Straw, and recently acquired Steven Souza.
