Lots of chatter about Cam Smith. I still don’t think I’m sticking my neck out by predicting he won’t make the OD roster. He’s legit, alright, but his 2.000+ OPS looks a lot like the kind of Springtime hot streak we see at least once every year from some flash-in-the-pan we never hear from again. Cam must prove he can hit breaking balls and get some practice in the outfield in the high minors before taking a major league position. A dozen or so Spring at bats don’t prove enough. If he proves he’s for real, and like everyone else, I think he is, we’ll see him soon enough.
