ARLINGTON – Considering the disappointing first two games of the series, the Astros had reason to believe their fortunes would turn for the better with veteran lefthander Scott Kazmir on the mound Wednesday night against the Rangers.
The reigning American League Pitcher of the Month had not lost since June 27, and he had dominated the Rangers this year. By the time the first inning was over, however, Kazmir had given up more runs at Globe Life Park than he allowed in the entire month of July.
With the help of consecutive errors by Kazmir and catcher Hank Conger to start the game, the Rangers scored three unearned runs in the first inning and then held on for a 4-3 victory to complete the three-game sweep.
