Recently acquired starting pitcher Scott Kazmir (trade happened on July 23) was named MLB’s AL Pitcher of the Month after posting an incredible 0.26 ERA (1 earned run in 34 innings pitched) through five starts (three with Oakland, two with Houston).
Kazmir set the third-lowest ERA in the month of July in MLB history (Spud Chandler (0.24) for the Yankees in 1941 and Frank Allen (0.25) for the Boston Braves in 1916).
In his two starts with the Astros, Kazmir went seven scoreless innings on July 24 in Kansas City and 7.2 scoreless innings on July 30 against the Angels.
