The Astros’ roster was well known to be crowded in spring training, and it still is to a degree. The difference now is there’s a new face that’s skipped the line and moved to the front.
In just his first month in the big leagues, Preston Tucker was among those to receive votes for the American League Rookie of the Month.
(That award went to another Astros draft pick, Delino DeShields Jr. of the Rangers, whom the Astros lost in the winter’s Rule 5 draft after failing to protect DeShields Jr. in favor of infielder Ronny Torreyes, a move that looks very poor because Torreyes since been designated for assignment and traded.
