MINNEAPOLIS -- The Astros placed left-hander pitcher Tony Sipp on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday with right oblique soreness and recalled right-hander James Hoyt from Triple-A Fresno. The move is retroactive to Sunday.
Astros manager AJ Hinch said he anticipates Sipp's DL stint to not last beyond the 10 days. Sipp, who hasn't been available for a couple of days, has appeared in two games this year, allowing one run in 2 1/3 innings.
"We just decided that, given the way pitching can go, we can't afford to sit on someone for five or six days," Hinch said.
