Matt Bower, the 21-year-old, lanky 6’5”, 190 pound lefty, made his High-A debut for the Lancaster JetHawks last night, tossing five complete shutout innings, giving up only one hit and striking out a career-high ten hitters, ending up with a no-decision for his dominating performance.
Bower was transferred to Lancaster from Quad Cities (A) on Friday. He was 1-0 with a 2.29 ERA in 5 games (3 starts) in the Midwest League. He had compiled 28 strikeouts to only 6 walks in 19.2 innings.
Bower was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 23rd round of the 2015 Draft out of Washington State and is a former teammate of INF Nick Tanielu at both Washington St.
