During the arms race to the postseason, the Astros added lefty specialist Oliver Perez post the trade deadline. Houston sent left-handed pitcher Junior Garcia to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for Perez. Today, Perez signed with the Washington Nationals for two years , $7 million.

Perez was 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA in 22 games with the Astros during the regular season. He allowed 12 runs (9 earned), 14 strikeouts, and four walks in 12 innings pitched.
Perez appeared in two games for the Astros in the playoffs, allowing one earned run over third of an inning -- allowing two hits and one walk.
