Generally speaking, I don’t do play-by-play recaps of Games the Astros lose by 11 runs on 16 hits. And just by coincidence that’s exactly what happened today in Arlington, the Rangers taking game 3 of the series 13-2. So I’ll just give you the big picture.
The Astros pitching sucked.
For the first five innings of the game, it looked more like batting practice for the Rangers than a real game. Rangers bats left Astros pitching in smoldering rubble, like the wreckage at Chernobyl or Fukashima. Starter Zack Greinke allowed runs in three of the fours innings he pitched and got saved from worse damage by a number of good fielding plays.
