MLB commissioner Rob Manfred talks about to roof at MMP (w/video)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A decade after former commissioner Bud Selig forced the Astros to open the Minute Maid Park roof during the World Series, new commissioner Rob Manfred left some wiggle room moving forward.

The Astros prefer to have the roof closed during playoff games, and they were allowed to keep it closed during the 2004 and 2005 playoffs until the White Sox complained before the 2005 World Series. Selig sided with the White Sox and ordered the roof open despite complaints from former Astros owner Drayton McLane and his players.

MLB allowed the Astros to close the roof during the first two games of the Division Series against the Royals.
