OAKLAND -- Astros starter Collin McHugh exited Friday night's game against the A's before the bottom of the fourth inning with a right middle fingernail avulsion.
McHugh was warming up for the fourth when he appeared to look down at his throwing hand. Astros manager A.J. Hinch came out to the mound with a trainer and examined McHugh's hand before the pitcher and the trainer walked off together.
McHugh allowed three runs on four hits (two homers) in three innings of work. He walked one and struck out one while throwing 50 pitches.
The Astros brought in right-hander Michael Feliz for McHugh in the fourth.
