McCullers makes leap to Triple-A Fresno

HOUSTON -- The Astros promoted another one of their top prospects to Triple-A Fresno on Thursday, rewarding right-handed starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. after an impressive start to the season for Double-A Corpus Christi.

McCullers, 21, went 3-1 with a 0.62 ERA in six games (four starts) for the Hooks, allowing 15 hits and two earned runs in 29 innings. He struck out 43 batters and walked 11. He'll be reunited at Fresno with shortstop Carlos Correa, who was called up earlier this week.

"He was good last year in [Class A] Lancaster," Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said.
