BOCA RATON, Fla. — As the Astros look for bullpen help, one power lefthanded arm who could be an attractive but cheaper alternative to a big name like the Reds’ Aroldis Chapman is Mike Dunn of the Marlins.
The lefty, like Chapman, is a year away from free agency. Dunn doesn’t throw quite as hard as Chapman (no one does), but he averages 95 mph on his fastball and more than 10 strikeouts per nine innings with a slider as his secondary pitch. The 30-year-old had a high walk rate in 2015, at 4.8 per nine innings, but he averaged 3.
