Mariners slugger Nelson Cruz drilled solo home runs in the second and sixth innings Saturday night to collect his major league-leading 12th and 13th homers of the season.
“I have no idea when he gets going like this what to do,” Astros manager A.J. Hinch said after the 11-4 victory over the Mariners. “He’s as dangerous a hitter as there is in the big leagues. I like when he comes up with nobody on, I can tell you that. He’s got guys around him that are difficult to navigate, but I’m glad they were solo homers.”
Cruz’s 13 homers through 24 games are tied for the most in that span in Mariners’ history.
