Former Houston Chronicle editor and reporter Harry Shattuck, who covered more than 3,000 major league games for the newspaper from the 1970s into the 1990s, was honored Wednesday as the latest member of the Houston Baseball Media Wall of Honor at Minute Maid Park.
Shattuck and his wife, Joan, received a copy of the plaque that will hang in the ballpark’s press box in a section honoring reporters and broadcasters. On hand to congratulate him were former Astros players Nolan Ryan and Jose Cruz and former team president Tal Smith.
“Harry was a guy that was fair as a writer, and I always appreciated that about Harry,” Ryan said.
