SAN FRANCISCO -- Held in check once again by a San Francisco starter, the Astros jumped on the Giants' bullpen on Tuesday afternoon when Tyler White crushed a two-run homer in the eighth inning off reliever Ray Black to send Houston to a 2-1 win at AT&T Park.
That came less than 24 hours after Houston was down to its final out and Marwin Gonzalez cracked a game-winning three-run homer off reliever Will Smith. The Astros had been held scoreless by rookie starter Dereck Rodriguez.
A three-city road trip that could have been a back-breaker instead saw Houston win two of three against both the Mariners and the Dodgers before sweeping a two-game set from the Giants.
