Astros ace lefthander Dallas Keuchel overcame a 44-pitch second inning to take the American League lead for victories with his 13th of the season Saturday night at Minute Maid Park.
By beating the Diamondbacks 9-2 before a crowd of 36,602 Keuchel set a franchise record by winning his first 10 home decisions this season. He’s the first pitcher to win his first 10 home decisions in a season since righthander Zach Greinke won 11 in 2011 for the Brewers.
“They were just taking a lot of first pitches and getting in hitters’ counts, but I had a little bit of extra movement on my two-seam today,” Keuchel (13-5) said after holding the Diamondbacks to two runs on two hits and three walks with eight strikeouts over six innings.
