Keuchel efficient against Yanks on short rest

As the 21st pitcher to make a start on short rest in a winner-take-all postseason game during the Wild Card era, Astros ace Dallas Keuchel gave the Astros a 2-0 lead after six shutout innings of three-hit ball.

Keuchel faced ominous odds entering Tuesday night's American League Wild Card Game presented by Budweiser. Of those previous 20 pitchers to make a start on short rest, only seven made a quality start and just two completed seven innings. Keuchel overcame an inflated pitch count -- he threw 39 through two innings -- to dominate the Yankees' lineup and retire 10 in a row before Didi Gregorius' seeing-eye single to lead off the sixth.
