Astros second baseman Jose Altuve exited in the top of the seventh inning after he and shortstop Carlos Correa collided in shallow center field Friday night at Minute Maid Park.
The Astros’ three-time All-Star second baseman and dynamic rookie were both tracking Elvis Andrus’ blooper to shallow center field when Correa hit Altuve in the head with his left forearm during the opener of a crucial three-game series against the AL West-leading Rangers.
Altuve had actually caught the blooper, but it slipped out of his glove as he tumbled to the Minute Maid Park grass.
Altuve rolled over and remained face down for several seconds.
