Astros second baseman Jose Altuve led off the third inning Thursday night with a double to left field, extending his streak of multi-hit games to eight.
Altuve’s multi-hit game streak is the second longest in Astros franchise history, one shy of the record Jesus Alou set in 1969 with nine consecutive multi-hit games.
Billy Hatcher tied Alou’s mark 1987 with nine consecutive multi-hit games.
Altuve, the 2014 American League batting champion, led off the bottom of the first against the Mariners with a single to right-center field in the opener of a four-game series at Minute Maid Park.
