Astros owner Jim Crane began Hall of Fame weekend in his native state, joining several of his former baseball teammates and friends at Central Missouri State University in a Kauffman Stadium suite for Friday’s game.
And this time, with a winning team and a new starting pitcher in Scott Kazmir, Crane has a much better product to show off to his old friends.
Of the Kazmir trade, Crane said, “We wanted to try to strengthen the team coming down the stretch. (General manager Jeff Luhnow) has been working on a number of deals. Now we’ve got Scott for the rest of the year, and we may try to sign him after this year.
