Jason Castro’s Offense Finally Not An Issue

Related Topics: Jason Castro (baseball)

Remember when Jason Castro was an offense-first catcher? Well that was the 2013 season when the former first round pick was an All-Star. Since then…not so much.

The 2014 and 2015 season was something to forget for Castro’s bat. Entering his age-26 season, Castro slashed just .222/.286/.366. Preferring not to get outdone the following season, the then 27-year old found a way to have a worse season at the plate with a .211/.283/.365 slash line.

Coming into the 2016 season, myself and many others didn’t want Castro to be the team’s full-time catcher. It’s true, Castro’s defense since the 2014 season has gone from below-average/average to elite, possibly hurting his offense.
