The Astros have seen their profile raised this season, from the standings to having two starters in the All-Star Game.
The gambling community is also noticing Houston, as MGM vice president of race and sports Jay Rood told ESPN.
The sportsbook had the Astros as 100/1 odds to win the World Series. Those odds are now 8/1, fifth-best in the majors.
“We’re on the hook for a seven-figure risk at 100-1 (on the Astros),” Rood said.
Of course, betting on an MLB longshot isn’t something new. In September 2011, a gambler bet $250 on the Cardinals to win the World Series at 999/1 odds.
