Skipper A.J. Hinch had long planned for the Houston Astros to carry 3 catchers in 2018. So it was a given that Max Stassi would make the team to spot Brian McCann behind the plate. It would also allow for Evan Gattis to be the primary DH.
So far, things have gone according to plan….and then some!
