The Houston Astros announced that backup catcher Max Stassi will be out six weeks with a wrist injury.
Max Stassi underwent surgery yesterday to repair a hook of the hamate fracture of his left wrist. He is expected to miss approx. six weeks.
Max Stassi, 25, hit .125 (2-for-16) during spring training.
The Astros will be without their backup catcher for at least one month as he recovers from yesterday’s surgery. Though he struggled from the plate this spring, the Astros love what he brings both offensively and defensively. Dallas Keuchel told Jose de Jesus Ortiz (Houston Chronicle) that Stassi “knows a lot of the major league guys, what they like to do and how they go about pitching.
