HOUSTON -- Right-handed reliever Josh Fields is one of the pitchers expected to join the Astros on Tuesday, the first day rosters can be expanded to 40 players. The Astros won't call up enough to grow the roster from 25 to 40, but they'll have a wave of players coming up from the Minor Leagues.
Fields was sent down in a roster crunch on Aug. 20 despite going 4-1 with a 2.20 ERA in 43 games, and Tuesday is the first day he's eligible to rejoin the Major League club. Outfielder Preston Tucker, who like Fields was the victim of a numbers game and sent down Aug.
